The Heart of Simply for One

You are invited in. You are welcome here.

As much as the words on these pages are mine, we share this space. I want this itty-bitty piece of the internet to feel safe, sweet, and full of endless grace. Whatever brings you here today, I’m so glad we get to share this moment. I am grateful for you. ♥

Dear reader, I am ever aware that in order to invite you here to fill your heart, I must be willing to share mine.

“We loved you so much that we shared with you
not only God’s good news, but our own lives, too.”
1 Thessalonians 2:8 NLT

When I first began this blog, I knew nothing except that I loved to write. I didn’t use my name or picture. I didn’t allow comments and once I did, I wouldn’t respond. I didn’t know that I didn’t know. This place was meant to share my faith and family, but apart from that, there was no grand plan. It’s no wonder then that a few months in, I sort-of-kind-of forgot I started the thing.

And then, life took an unexpected turn. My heart was dislodged from a place it had been anchored for a very long time. A ministry that I held dear came to an abrupt end and I was left wounded, frayed and wondering … what now?

Who was I, and how would I use my voice?

God had written a vision over my heart that had simultaneously been my undoing and my reawakening. He called me—He told me it was time—to live out my faith with honesty and authenticity. He told me to be real.

He didn’t say “be perfect,” but He said “no more pretense.”

He didn’t ask me to have all the answers, but instead trust Him to provide.

He didn’t say it would be easy, He simply asked me to obey.

And I offered a million questions, feared a thousand fears, laid out hundreds of doubts in my ability and effectiveness. Would anyone listen, care, bother …

God said, simply for one.

If one heart received one word they needed in one moment in time, then I’d done as He asked. Whether that one would turn into ten or ten thousand, would be chosen only at His good pleasure.

I wish I could tell you there was heaps of freedom in that. I’d love to say I was brave and engaged straight-up faith. But the REAL TRUTH is, I’ve asked those million questions, feared those thousand fears, and laid out hundreds of doubts far more often than God deserves.

And yet He has proven faithful over and over. Because He is—good, gracious, patient and loving. He’s brought the one and then some. And along with them, He brought me space to heal and rediscover myself while I uncovered more of Him.

And friends, that’s why I’m so eager to share this space with you.

So that you can uncover the God who says simply obey
and then does exceedingly more.

Over time, God has solidified the purpose for this space. He has cleared the path and given the call, and this is what it looks like:

REAL CONVERSATION: My desire is that the words here would engage you in honest-to-goodness real conversation. With God, with me, and among each other. We may not always agree, but know that here, you will be received with kindness and given the broad space to express your heart. And…just listening is okay too.

AUTHENTIC FAITH: My heart is that you will be encouraged in the authenticity of our faith. It is real, true, alive, and without rival—just as our God and Savior, Jesus Christ. And so you too can be real in this place. Messy is just fine and imperfect is all-together acceptable.

ENDLESS GRACE: My purpose is that you know without question that you are loved by a God of endless grace. He is for you, has chosen you, and calls you His own. NOTHING can separate you from a God who gave His all to offer you His everything.

“The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart
and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
1 Timothy 1:5 ESV

I hope that here, you will find that one—loving, good, sincere—word in just the moment you need it. Thank you for sharing this place with me, dear friends. Your time is a gift I treasure, and I’m so blessed you chose to spend it with me.

From my heart to yours,

  1. You have a beautiful heart, Tiffany! Doubt has paralyzed me in the past and still does now as I am going deep. I heard something very similar to your ‘simply for one’, got a little teary-eyed when I read even :)
I look forward to reading more of your post!

    1. Hi Mandy! Thanks so much for being here and sharing your heart. Yes, doubt can really derail us from God’s best, can’t it? Praying His voice and truth are louder. Blessings to you as you pursue those “ones” in your life.

  2. I like that He called you “simply for one”.
Jesus went to find the “one” at a well in Samaria. Then that “one” went and brought a whole village.
I know it is so easy for us to want to see the results of our labor in the here and now, but if you are reaching the one here and the one there, then you can trust that He will add to that one and begin a multiplication process that you may not see until you get to Glory.
Hang in there, and keep walking in obedience to His call! God bless you, dear sister! :)

  3. So grateful for your sharing and mission, Tiffany. I’m so happy to visit sites like yours where Jesus’ love and work “simply” shines through : ) Keep simply obeying!

  4. I love this, Tiffany. I think you are achieving your goals for this space, and then some. Welcoming, gracious, honest, Christ-honoring, kind … what you’ve created here is definitely a respite in this old world of ours. :-)

    1. That means the world to me, Lois. Yes, this space is certainly sacred for me and I love that it can be a safe haven for others. Thanks for visiting and for your sweet encouragement. Blessings, friend.

  5. Beautiful, Tiffany, and congrats on the relaunch of your lovely site. Much of what you’ve shared here on the blogging journey could be my own words, too. Thankful He is always giving new insight and revelation, that we might carry out our mission {for His glory} in the most beneficial way. Here’s to producing fruit as you share all He lays on your heart.
